How to Write Your Own Life Story
The self on the page:
write from the heart.
Writing alone, writing together,
writing to heal,
writing away the demons,
scribing the soul.

Writing works!
Dear east coast friends,

I'm coming to New York City to teach at the Expressive Therapies Summit!

Here's a link to a flyer that tells about the program, what you'll learn, pricing, registration links, etc.

In the flyer, there's an audio clip about the workshop (it's under two minutes).

Finally, here's a link to the Expressive Therapies Summit website that gives all the details about this amazing event.

CE hours? YES, of course! (12, I think.)

Although the intensive will be targeted at clinical issues, you do not need to be a psychotherapist to attend.

I hope you'll join us!

A favor, if you would: The workshop flyer is designed to be shared on social media. Would you please help us spread the word by reposting on your social media sites? Or, if it's easier, re-post this notice using the social media buttons at the top of this page.

Thank you so much! Hope to see you in NYC Nov 8-9.

Friday & Saturday Intensive

Journal Therapy & Neuroscience: Writing the Waves (Day 1)
The New School — Wollman Auditorium

Kathleen "Kay" Adams, LPC
Deborah Ross, LPC

Day 1 of this 2-Day Training Intensive
Participants must register for both days to attend

Neuroscience is now confirming what evidence-based research has shown for nearly 30 years: Expressive writing has positive effects on health, mood, and behavior. Journal therapy – the purposeful and intentional use of life-based writing to further treatment goals—is a simple, effective, affordable intervention for clients at nearly all skill levels.

Most mental health professionals agree that writing down thoughts and feelings can be a helpful adjunct to therapy. Many advocate that their clients keep journals. However, very few clinicians have learned the theory, techniques, skills and strategies that transform the everyday journal into a powerful therapeutic tool.  And even fewer have up-to-the-minute knowledge about the powerful interaction between therapeutic writing and the new, emerging brain science.

In this two-day intensive, a pioneer in journal therapy and a graduate of the Mindsight Institute offer the theory and practice of journal therapy and neuroscience. Participants will leave with a toolbox of techniques, strategies, and experiences that can be easily implemented with clients (and for therapist self-supervision and self-care) to “write the (brain) wave” to healing, growth and change.

This workshop focuses on both theory and practice. Come ready to write (laptops and tablets are welcome). Sharing is optional. No prior journal experience needed.

NYC Where to Stay:

We've spent quite a bit of time pricing group room rates, and we are certain that you will get a better deal on lodging in NYC by booking through one of the websites listed below. In fact, no single hotel or location is best for all who will attend the Summit, and in NYC, staying in a hotel is not necessarily the best lodging option.

Many New Yorkers make their homes available to out-of-town guests, and you can rent yourself an apartment for a few nights, or get a room in a B&B with a friendly host. There are many ways and places to stay in and around Manhattan.
..and we'd like you to know about some of them.
